A dynamic rendition of a classic tale that both borrows and provides, Maleficent is a visually beautiful film with simple but powerful themes that shine, sometimes too brightly, in the face of the viewer.
Angelina Jolie's performance is sublime, and, for better or worse, acts as a net for the otherwise forgettable characters.
