Review of Maleficent (2014) by Samir N — 30 Apr 2016

Despite an entertaining performance from Angelina Jolie, the plot of the film is paperthin and somehow manages to be even more undermined by either wooden or painfully obnoxious performances. The special effects look incredibly fake, the pacing fluctuates far too much between rapid-fire speed and sedated sluggishness, and "Maleficent" ultimately leaves the audience wondering: "why was this film even made in the first place?".
