What happened? lee should have been able to convey the passion that malcom x felt and inspired, but this bloodless biopic offer a series of predictable set pieces that even washington's fine performance can't render interesting.
it should have been a much better film, but lee's reverence for his subject prevents him from any real breakthrough in understanding him.
