I probably just didn't get what Spike Lee was up to but it felt too long and poorly edited, kind of like Downfall in the sense I could sneak in a couple of naps and not have missed anything too important.
Washington was great but the film itself was rather clunky. Malcolm X is clearly a complex character to portray and not an easy hero for a film and I don't think the film worked through these problems very well.
