Review of Malcolm X (1992) by Edgar C — 14 Jan 2010
Great film. Well photographed, directed and well cast. I felt like I was in Malcolm shoes from his painful childhood, to his gangster adulesson days, to being prisoned, and transforming himself to a powerful speaker, and learning to accept empathy on his own terms.
Danzel Washington transforms into the man his performance is truly epic to watch. I admire the scenes where Malcolm plays Russian Roulette, when he is imprionsed and learns the meaning of becoming a muslim, his love for his wife Betty(played by Angela Bassett) his TV interview between the diference of a house negro and a field negro, the rejection of a young student who wants to help further Malcolm's cause, Malcolm leaves the Nation of Islam and goes to the holy city of Mecca, and so much more.
I think a lot of ppl will appreciate this film once they been given the chance to see it. It is definetly one of Lee's best films. Epic.
