Review of Malcolm X (1992) by Jared Sharry B — 16 Jan 2011
Spike Lee's epic bio-pic is not quite a masterpiece. There is some exceptional filmmaking and brilliant acting on display, but the film also gets bogged down in a few unnecessary sequences that are amazing recreations of history, but ultimately not needed to move the film along.
Like many Spike Lee films, the musical score seems out of place at times and becomes a distraction as well. But all that aside, it is a great film.
