Review of Malcolm X (1992) by Shahida Q — 19 Jan 2011

Denzel Washington's best performance in years. This movie educated me about one of the most remarkable men in American history, Malcolm X, and God, what a man he was! Will think about it for a few weeks now.

.. Since I saw the movie, I was so fascinated that I immediately saw all the real life speeches and interviews by the late Mr. X! Spike Lee directed so well, and depicts history so realistically, that it puts you right into the spot, period and the life of Mr.

X. The scene in Mecca, for example, is the real deal, there are no fake locations, all those people praying, and Denzel Washington with them :) (there's a beautiful scene where Malcolm prays completely in Arabic language, which shows how dedicated both the director, crew and Denzel were).

Malcolm's best speeches are shown as they really happened, Lee really did his research :) The assassination scene broke my heart, made me cry, and made me feel rage for the loss of such a genius..

I don't know what else to say, one of the best biopics ever...Go see it!
