Review of Malcolm X (1992) by Andrew C — 01 Jan 2011
Denzel's Oscar-nominated performance is such an excellent depiction that some viewers may not notice when the film switches to archival footage of the real Malcolm. This supremely crafted movie goes beyond mere biography to explain the emotions behind a movement.
Like him or not, Malcolm X is a pivotal figure in the history of America and this movie, while not strictly 'entertaining', does a fine job of transporting you to a different time and place. 4/21/9.
