Review of Make It Happen (2008) by Heather M — 22 Jun 2011
Why must snooty dance schools be so damned resistant to scrappy, hip-hop-dancing underdogs?!
Mary Elizabeth Winstead is a great dancer and makes for a charming lead in this pretty standard dance movie that aims to be a sort of teen-friendly version of Flashdance. The dance sequences are inventive but the choreography is kind of lazy and the movie doesn't offer much in the way of a compelling storyline to make up for it. Still, it's watchable enough for fans of the genre and the soundtrack is pretty great so if you get bored you can spend the time looking up the songs on iTunes.
