Review of Major Payne (1995) by Ty R — 23 Sep 2009
This is one of those movies that is debatle on being a very funny movie. I remember watching this many times when I was little, and I laughed my ass off. I watched it again recently, it might of not been as funny as it once was, but I still had a lot of good laughs out of this movie.
The movie introduces Major Payne (played by Damon Wayans), who plays a psychotic killing machine, who trains a group of ROTC members how to be a real soldier. This is one of the screwiest characters I've known in the movie character list.
A crazed war machine, getting a bit of a softer side developing, but in one of the most humerous ways. This is a movie thats in my list of guilty pleasures. Sometimes, you have to pay close attention to some of the writitng in the movie, with the correct pronunciation of the dialogue in it, and you'll find it to be very funny, and thats a good thing.
It's not often you stumble upon a decent soldier comedy. It may not be one of the best comedies around, but it's still a pretty good one. I personally thought Damon Wayans did a good job, trying to pull off a goofy Major, with some good one-liners.
A very decent comedy, quite enjoyable.
