Review of Major League (1989) by Mark F — 20 Jun 2009
So much to love about this film but the pace is kept by Bob Uecker and his drunk cometary. "Just a bit outside" is a quote I use often. Berenger's hooker with a heart of gold story has been told many times before but in the baseball setting and with the looser team he helps command, this lighter side and possible spoof of Bull Durham (a #1 in my book) is a home run.
Russo's first movie is a hit and Sheen, still in his wonder years pitches a no hitter in this film. Snipes even steals a few scenes but is no big hitter. See it now, seen it then, watch it tomorrow.
Now lets play ball!
