Review of Major League (1989) by Kevin J — 30 Apr 2014
This film is not successful in many areas, but the one area where it is successful is what ultimately saves it. As a comedy, it is not exactly a success in my mind. I rarely laughed throughout and, honestly, felt as though it operated as a light-hearted drama with a few comedic moments thrown in to lighten the mood further.
While the jokes were sporadic, what was not sporadic was the pure joy provided by the film. Overall, the film is not a technical masterpiece, the acting is spotty, and I did not really find it funny, but I enjoyed it all the same.
It is simply a fun movie to watch, it leaves you smiling and it is hard not to have a good time watching this one. That is where this one is truly successful.
