Review of Major Grom: Plague Doctor (2021) by Tvjerry — 25 Jul 2021

I waited a week to write this review, then I realized I didn’t remember that much about it. Guess that makes a statement about its effect. This is an adaptation of the Russian comic book series and the first superhero from that country.

The titular plague is one of lawlessness in the city of St Petersburg (which is beautifully presented). The authorities are overrun by crime until a masked avenger starts to eliminate the evil rich and powerful.

It’s up to the inevitable rogue cop and his partner to stop the outbreak. There are some dynamic action sequences, lovely locations and a sufficient pace to keep it involving without being especially memorable (in my case at least).
