Review of Magnolia (1999) by The D — 05 May 2013
Excellent multi-part movie with many different storylines blending together. There's a great soundtrack with numerous moving and funny stories centered on Los Angeles and its denizens, child actors, cops, motivational speakers and so on.
If anything, there's too much here, and Paul Thomas Anderson barely holds it together with his supreme talent and skill as a storyteller and master of the film medium. The great performances by the actors really make you care.
This movie is hard to classify but it's brilliant.
