Review of Magnolia (1999) by Kerby H — 01 Apr 2012
This is the best ensemble performance of all time. Every single cast member deserved an Oscar nomination, especially Tom Cruise and Phillip Baker Hall. For most 3 hour long movies (even the good ones), they often drag on and have too much unnecessary footage.
However, there are so many great stories presented so well that you barely even notice that 3 hours have gone by. Overall, the direction, acting, writing, message and story are superlative.
