Review of Magnolia (1999) by Brad S — 25 Jun 2017
- I've seen this several times now...and it gets better with each viewing. I just upgraded it to 5 stars. I love this film..just perfect in all aspects. One thing struck me strongly on this viewing, a very deep sadness at the loss of Phillip Seymour Hoffman...I read somewhere that someone said he robbed us of all his future performances..and it it's true...he was a Master actor. This is a MUST watch!
- I wanted to revisit this film after seeing "Boogie Nights" again...and I am just as impressed with this movie as I was the first time. P.T.Anderson really has to be one of the best directors working today, his stamp is on every frame of this film. He likes telling stories with many characters that are interconnected, and really does a great job. The soundtrack is also amazing.
This makes for a great double-bill with "Boogie Nights".
