Review of Magnificent Obsession (1954) by Roger T — 06 Feb 2013
The story is absurd and no man in the real world could compare to Bob Merrick who returns to his medical studies to become a surgeon so that he can eventually operate on his lover and restore her sight that was lost in a tragic accident.
..not to mention the fact that Helen falls for the man that is inadvertently responsible for her husband's death... yes it's a classic technicolour Sirk melodrama; it's escapist and entirely too enjoyable on a Sunday afternoon.
