Review of Magic Mike XXL (2015) by Trevel C — 01 Jul 2015
Be ye not deceived Gentlemen, this one isn't just for the Ladies.
Magic Mike XXL is one of the best guy movies I have seen in a long time.
It's about a bunch of dudes traveling across country in a food van with all the awesome antics included: bad practical jokes, highs, crashes, memorable characters, and raging parties. Seriously, a great bro-mance: all men, being manly, all the time.
I know some gents might be afraid of seeing a little more exposure than they may prefer, however, the only true exposè is in revealing the answer to that age old mystery, "What do women want?" and these guys know it! (HINT: it's not actually about skin).
So don't worry, the only big D you'll see in this is Joe Manganiello playing the character of Big Dick Richie, a troubled man stuck in a routine he doesn't even like, yet too unsure of himself to follow his passion.
But with best mates like Channing Tatum as the incandescent Magic Mike, Matt Bomer as Ken (doll), Adam Rodriguez at Tito, and Kevin Nash as Tarzan, this strip down, soul baring gets to the truth. Everyone just want to be heard and desired as we pursue defining who we really are.
Driven along by the great "Fluffy," Gabriel Iglesias as Tobias, these gents travel through personal discovery, hilarious hijinks, and hard work to accomplish their quest of taking their last ride and going out with a bang.
And a BANG indeed it is!
Ladies... these men have it Riiiiiiight, so go see it. I confess to not being able to stop shouting out,"oh yeah", in the movie theater. Those dance scenes are exquisite.
A special shout out goes to Jada Pinket Smith as Rome, the great Queen of queens, who reminds us that we are all beautiful, no matter who we are. Also, keep an eye out for the stunning Andie MacDowell who portrays who we all feel like somedays: the forgotten beauty.
Truly, a brilliant, fun, and climactic delight.
