Review of Magic Mike (2012) by Paulina A — 02 Feb 2013
Magic Mike is shockingly a very descent entertaining movie. Set in the world of male strippers, the film follows Mike as he takes a young dancer called The Kid under his wing and schools him in the fine arts if partying, picking up women and making easy money.
This has to be Steven Soderbergh's most daring, realistic and compelling film yet. It's sharp, well crafted and wonderfully performed. It's brilliant, charming and just a very fun time.
The cast features two major stars and they are Channig Tatum and Mattew McConaughey. Let me start by saying Channing Tatum maybe an actor, but he is a damn fine dancer. Tatum is a good actor and has been in other good films such as this one. Matthew McConaughey's character is in charge of the male stripper club and he plays the role women like which I kinda enjoy but he has the other side were he plays serious roles which I like better, but he was still pretty good in this.
This movie offers a very enjoyable time with charm, class and great dancing. Steven Soderbergh is great director and has given us great films such as 50/50, Contagion, The Informant, Haywire and his upcoming film Side Effects, but his most recent film Magic Mike has a different tone that makes it watchable. So grab a 6 pack, get your girl and relax for really a fun time.
