Review of Magic in the Moonlight (2014) by Steve W — 21 Aug 2014
A debunker of spiritualist frauds meets his match when he tries to uncover a young woman, who has incredible clairvoyant powers. He finds his rigid and disciplined way of thinking moved forever, in this very theme heavy romantic comedy from Woody Allen.
Colin Firth and Emma Stone carry the movie and dialogue, for a very nuanced look at religion vs. atheism, cynicism vs optimism, and many other themes that are carefully woven into the dialogue as to not seem preachy.
The script is wonderful, the cast performs well, and this film is truly a delight.
