Review of Magic in the Moonlight (2014) by Alvin Y — 09 Dec 2014
Woody Allen's 45th or 46th or ?th film is one his best in his entire long career. I've seen some of his bests in the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, and still Allen reminds us that a story like this one is never tiresome or boring to enjoy.
I really mean when I say it's a great Allen flick, who could possibly not fall with the talents involve here, and a gorgeous set piece in a small village in Europe. What also amazed me is the script that never fails to be dull in any moment that talks about the classic way of falling in love with someone and such things that I won't tell for you to see.
It's not also about illusionists or psychics about their talents but about how a particular person can be such an ordinary one even at the high possibilities of specialty. It truly does not feel gimmicky or cliched, as you know quite predictable at the end, still I would never forget that smile in my face after the credits roll.
If this would been set on these times, think about it, what could be wrong?
