Review of Magic in the Moonlight (2014) by Fifi S — 24 Jan 2015
I saw this movie on a long-haul flight and it was cringingly awful. The dialogue was dreadful, the plot (which you can guess within 15 minutes) the acting - it was all appalling. I was flabbergasted to learn two weeks later that it was a Woody Allan film.
He is my favourite Director and 'Midnight in Paris' is fantastic but he failed miserable with this brutal film. Shockingly bad. The costumes were good however! As an antidote to that waste of time I then watched Lucy and that made me feel a lot better.
Funny that, considering Lucy's star, Scarlett Johansson, singly saved another dreadful Woody Allen movie called 'Match Point' .
