Review of Maggie's Plan (2016) by Tatsuhito K — 14 Jun 2016
Maggie's Plan had me smiling and laughing all the way through. This is my jam: a sweet, funny, and undeniably charming comedy drama with smart, self-involved, and deeply flawed characters who, sometimes, choke you up with emotion.
Although it is not perfect and it can be too whimsical for its own good, with the help of its stellar cast, writer-director Rebecca Miller manages to bring plenty of laughs and heartwarming moments through her intelligent dialogue.
In a world where most films are about superheroes, aliens, flashy explosions and incredibly male-entered, it's wonderful to see a film by a female director that revolves around a female protagonist.
It is an absolute delight.
