Review of Maggie's Plan (2016) by Leon B — 27 Dec 2016
Maggie's Plan is a fine but forgettable rom-com. The performances in this film are great. Greta Gerwig shines in her role. Ethan Hawke was also good. While Julianne Moore's accent is annoying at first, you get used to it by the end.
The film is definitely reminiscent of a Woody Allen movie. Unfortunately, it never reaches those heights. The film, while sometimes funny, is never truly hilarious. Also, the film sometimes feels like an intimidation than inspiration.
The plot is engaging for its runtime. The ending does falter though. Overall, while reading this review, you might think I hated this movie since I wrote mostly about the negatives. I didn't hate this movie.
In fact, I can say that I liked it for the most part. I was just disappointed considering the high critical ratings.
