Review:

This movie is totally boring and the storyline is really poor. For a Schwarzenegger movie, I was expecting some action or, at least, a bit of suspense but nothing really happens from the beginning to the end. Anyway, this movie sees Schwarzenegger play Wade, who is a loving father with 2 little kids and a daughter called Maggie (Abigail Breslin) who has been bitten by a zombie and is slowly changing into one of them. After going missing for 2 weeks, Wade finally finds her in quarantine in a hospital and the doctor tells him that she hasn't got long before her human form will be taken over by the viral pandemic which is spreading across America. Against the hospital rules, the doctor allows Wade to take Maggie home and he sends his young kids to his sisters house to protect them. Her mother-in-law, Caroline (Joely Richardson), decides to stay so she can help Wade with Maggie and her incurable disease but she soon gets fed up because Wade refuses to take her into quarantine. After a while, the disease starts to take over her whole body and she tells her dad that she would prefer to die than turn into a zombie but Wade hasnt got the courage to take his daughters life. I'm not one for zombie movies so I knew that I wouldn't like that element of the storyline but the whole pace and glum look to the film just made it even worse. I was hoping for some zombie killing action but it's mostly about the relationship between Wade and Maggie before she becomes a total zombie. On the plus side, Schwarzenegger really does show some true emotion throughout the movie and the love between him and his daughter was emotional in parts but the film was badly written and, judging by the box office takings, it really didn't go down well with audiences around the globe. Disappointing!

Round-Up:

After starring in many memorable movies in his career, Schwarzenegger, 68, returns to the big screen after being in politics for a few years and I must admit, his career hasn't been that great the second time round. I liked him in the Escape Plan with Sylvester Stallone and his brief appearance in the Expendables franchise wasn't too bad but the Last Stand and Sabotage were quite bad. I, surprisingly, enjoyed Terminator Genisys, mainly because of his performance but this movie was appalling. With movies like the Legend of Conan, Triplets and the Toxic Avenger in the pipeline, he really needs to put this movie firmly behind him so it doesn't damage his huge ego, during his comeback to the big screen. Anyway, this movie was directed by Henry Hobson who done the visual effects for the weird Tempest starring Helen Mirren and he supplied his title sequence skills to huge movies like Sherlock Holmes, Robin Hood, the latest Karate Kid starring Jackie Chan, Rango, the Hangover Part II and many more. His first attempt behind a camera for a motion picture, was quite poor so it might be a good idea for him to stick to his title sequences, which he is known for. .

Budget: $4.5million.

Worldwide Gross: $190,000.

I recommend this movie to people who are into their drama/horror/thrillers starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Abigail Breslin and Joely Richardson. 2/10.
