Review of Maggie (2015) by Andy R — 12 Dec 2015
Seeing that it's a zombie film and it stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, it could've easily be an action film like the main actor's other films, it's actually a drama film which I've never seen that from him before, and Maggie turns out to be a great film.
Even though the tone kept reminding me of The Walking Dead, but it's still good to see something like this in a zombie film. The plot is very simple and very slow which would get some viewers bored, but I was actually invested in it because of the performances from Abigail Breslin and Arnold Schwarzenegger, yes, even Arnold did a great job at it and can really do drama very well which even I was surprised about it.
The make-up effects look really good, and the characters are fine, although nothing memorable. The movie mostly takes place in the main character's home, and I wished that I can see more of what the world is like.
I really like the father and daughter relationship between the main characters to the point that I was starting to care for them a bit. You can sort of see where it's going at the end, and for those that were looking for action in this, would be disappointed.
Maggie stands out a bit from the usual zombie films, even if it feels like an episode of The Walking Dead.
