Review of Madonna: Truth or Dare (1991) by Tyler M — 21 Dec 2007
An interesting examination into the world of one of pop music's biggest stars at one of the peaks of her success. There are plenty moments in this film that were probably fabricated, but there are some moments that shine through as alarmingly genuine as well - Warren Beatty's scenes come to mind, when he tells her that she only wants to exist in front of a camera.
There are few music documentaries of this caliber, it is truly up there in my book with the Bob Dylan rockumentaries "Don't Look Back and "No Direction Home," the Radiohead rock doc "Meeting People Is Easy," and "Gimme Shelter" about the Rolling Stones, among others.
If you're at all interested in Madonna, 80s/90s pop music or rockumentaries, this will be invaluable to you.
