Review of Madonna: Truth or Dare (1991) by Wayne Z — 25 Aug 2008
Until last week I hadn't seen this film for 18 years! I watched it on acid in 1990 on 2 conesecutive days. The first day I loved it, the second day I hated it. I was trying to get into the psyche of the 'real' Madonna! Watching it now (as a responsible adult) it's pretty obvious that she is acting pretty much throughout - probably the best bit of acting she's ever done.
I wonder if the idea was inspired by the scarcley seen Rolling Stones film 'Cocksucker Blues' which also uses the same idea of Black & White footage intercut with Colour live (on stage) footage.
RIP OFF!!! Hanging around with her backing dancers would have done my head in though.
