Review of Madhouse (1974) by Chad D — 11 Jan 2013
We looked into the depths of our souls, and he was there...
A horror movie star swears to never play the role of Dr. Death again after his bride is murdered on a movie premier night. Some years later an old friend asks him to help generate some movie by reprising the role one last time. They begin making the Dr. Death picture, and right on queue, murders start happening all around the movie stars.
"You sure scared the pants off me.".
"Who hasn't?".
Jim Clark, director of The Christmas Tree, Every House Should Have One, and Rentadick, delivers Madhouse. The storyline for this picture is nothing special and the horror scenes were fairly straight forward. The death scenes were also fairly average. The cast delivers pretty good performances and includes Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, Robert Quarry, Adrienne Corri, and Barry Dennen.
"I'm terrified of what's he done and I'm terrified of what he still may do.".
I found this movie on Netflix and was super excited since it starred Vincent Price and Peter Cushing. The movie was just okay and was obviously made more because it starred the two than it actually made sense to have both of them in it. As a whole, this is a very average movie and not really worth your time.
"Who is Dr. Death?".
"I will tell you.".
Grade: C+.
