Review of Made of Honor (2008) by Chelsea G — 24 May 2010

I am not a romantic comedy type of person at all. I find them all to be the sam and hopelessly fake and seperated from reality. But, when it comes to me and my best friend on movie nights, we just can't help ourselves and we tend to pick the worst movies possible to watch with each other. This is part of the only reason that this movie got more than 20% as a rating.

This movie follows the story of a guy and girl who are best friends. Although he loves her on the inside he won't admit it. When she returns from a trip to Scotland engaged to a man in that country and makes him the "maid of honor" he discovers that he loves her and will go to any length to show her that and to marry her himself.

Obviously just from the summary of this movie you can tell that he will get the girl in the end. This is the eternal downfall of most of romantic comedies today. They all think that their screenplays are new and interesting when in fact they all end the exact same way. Girl gets guy or guy gets girl and they live happily ever after. Although Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan give strong performances for the characters they are given, the movie itself is shallow and predictable. It is only suited for inside jokes.
