(2008) Made Of Honor.
ROMANTIC COMEDY.
Patrick Dempsey as Tom, a player while in college who by chance meets Hannah (Michelle Monaghan) while in a party and some more years later they have remained friends since then whereas he's slept with every girl he meets except Hannah who he just hangs out with as friends. Once Hannah announces that she's going to Scotland for some schooling, he soon realizes that the women he sleeps with either have nothing in common with him or that they're all dumb as a doorknob. And after Hannah comes back she's then announces her engagement to a Scotsman whose better than him in most every possible way and she asks Tom to be her "maid of honor" at their wedding. The rest of the film dwells on his ways to win her back for he realizes that it is her that he's really in love with.
I was able to watch it all the way through except for two very cringing scenes- one is the juggling of the dishes which is cheap and tagged on, and near the end when he goes after her which has been done a million times and better. While Hannah is studied to be an 'art saver', the fact that Tom doesn't really have a job doing anything except living off his fathers millions as well as sleeping with several women doesn't make Tom the kind of character I'd want to root for in real life either. And in another sense it's not bad but up to a specific point, then it falls apart even though it wasn't funny.
2 out of 4.
