Review of Made of Honor (2008) by Ian F — 02 Sep 2009
So I was informed by Patrick Dempsey that this was a funnier version of 'My Best Friends Wedding', my favorite movie of all time. And what expected I got- it wasn't as good as 'MBFW'.
Go figure! I didn't hate it as much as I expected- it wasn't a bastardized version of 'MBFW'. It reminded me more of 'Three Men & A Little Lady' than 'MBFW' by the end; I think because of the Scottish wedding.
Which leads me to why I didn't like it. First off it wasn't nearly as funny as Dempsy leads us to think- very childish and physical than anything- not nearly as intellegent as 'MBFW', the ending was all wrong.
So all in all, not well written. THe characters were clear molds and what was with the blogger girl and short shorts guy? Comic relief... unfunny comic relief? Or mear character drivers that don't amount to anything and are only used to make things happen in uneloquent ways! It's really just lame characters acting lamely! The soundtrack uses good songs in the wrong way ('Stop Crying Your heart Out' should not have been used).
But all-in-all, its like I said, this is just a dumbed down, unfunny and uneloquent version of one of the best romantic comedies of all time!
