Review of Made in Dagenham (2010) by Lorna B — 28 Sep 2010
This is a true story of the 1968 strike at the Ford car plant by the female workers. What started out as a 24 hour strike over being paid as unskilled workers turns into a fight of sexual discrimination and equal pay. Thanks to this fight the 1970 Equal pay act in Britain was introduced.
Director Nigel Cole has recreated the 60's perfectly. His vision from his directorial piece, Calendar girls, has also made its way into this story.
This comedic drama portrayed these women's plight with gumption, pride and good old British humour. Entertaining, interesting and a fun film all round.
Big thumbs up to the casting department for bringing together such a perfect cast, they gelled brilliantly to bring this story to life.
