Review of Made in Dagenham (2010) by Robert D. P — 26 Dec 2010
Sally Hawkins is splendid period film, about a labor struggle of 187 British working women that go on strike for equal pay for equal work with men, an unheard concept then. This presents a vivid portrait of the British industrial world of 1968.
Everything looks so shabby, the factories, the streets, and the worker homes. I could have used subtitles for when the men and women in their working class accents start jabbering in more than one on one situations.
Went to see Sally Hawkins and got a lot more, a powerful drama. 4 out 4 stars.
