Review of Made in Dagenham (2010) by Ollie W — 31 Oct 2011
Predictable and melodramatic, Nigel Cole's somewhat gentle tale of 1960's Battle of the Sexes, boasts an excellent central performance from the always flawless Sally Hawkins, wonderful support from the entire cast (Blackadder's Queenie - Richardson, Pike, Mays, Riseborough and Harold Wilsonare all superb) and while it's cringe-worthy final third probably doesn't justify the elation and importance of these women's efforts, one is always reminded that this is a glamorized, sexualized, idealized version of the 1960's and as enjoyable as it is, it isn't at all realistic.
