Review of Made (2001) by Ryan T — 25 Jul 2004
I rented this hoping for a similar movie to Swingers. It almost felt that way...kind of a Swingers meets the mob or something. Or an almost sequel.
However this is not even close to the movie that Swingers is. The movie felt stiff, kind of forced, and left you with a rather awkward feeling.
Not to say it's a bad movie. It's definitely worth seeing. Vince Vaughn is, once again, absolutely brilliant, albeit his character is extremely annoying. I feel it's Jon Favreau that's not up to par in this, which is funny considering it was his writing and his direction. Maybe it's his character that put me off, but there was just something that didn't really click there.
However, I should point out the movie does have it's funny moments. It's witty and smart. And maybe if I wasn't comparing it to the completely ingenious Swingers, I'd have thought more of it.
