Review of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (2008) by Julia O — 20 Feb 2013
A pleasing and pretty enough re-run, just that bit diminished. This is one of those rare occasions where the sequel is better than the original - but only by a whisker. Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath's exhilarating cartoon is a medley of comic humiliations as the sophisticated New Yorkers fail to cut the mustard in the real wild.
The Heath Robinson invention will delight adults. The ironies will thrill kids. Although the gags are a little repetitive, it still works. The voice talent are back are are still great, another okish plot and still oddly charming.
Way better than I expected, but that's not saying much but Dreamworks still have done better.
