Review of Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (2012) by Rudy M — 16 Apr 2013

Meh. This isn't as good as the original. But then again, it's better than most crap that's out there these days.

It seems kinda hard these days to come up with a truly original script and a matching screenplay. Madagascar 3 is lacking a little bit in these parts, providing an experience that is predictable, on-and-off funny and a bit scattered.

Some dialogue is witty and genuinely funny, but othertimes it's a drag. You really have to be on top of your listening game in certain spots as well, as the jokes and language games get fired off rapidly after one another.

I don't get why these animals need to get tangled up in their own Cirque du Soleil, either. I bet that was a) for the 3D version that I was lucky enough to NOT see. Or b) for some kind of hardly-subliminal promotion for the aforementioned Cirque. Hmm, I wonder if there are any plans by any production company to release a CdS feature film?!

So what are the pros? Well, that one's simple: the penguins. They alone make this animated movie better than most crap out there today.

Verdict: see on a rainy sunday afternoon.
