Review of Mad Money (2008) by Andrew H — 30 Apr 2011
Callie Khouri didn't have much to work with. This script was extremely plain. It was a cute attempt at putting a feminine twist at the old bank robbery plot arc, but it just wasn't compelling. The way the writer tried to weave personal issues into the crime arc just did not work and it ended up pretty sloppy.
Queen Latifah and Diane Keaton did not put on astounding performances, but they didn't have much room to shine with the basic roles they were working with. Overall I found this film far too bland due to it's plot.
The production value was on par, but just cuz a movie's not crappy doesn't mean it's good. Some flicks are hits and some are misses, and you can add this one to the miss list.
