Review of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985) by Jayson F — 02 Apr 2008
Ebert slapped four stars (out of four) on this movie. I say, slow down, tiger. Maybe the caged match looked fantastic in 1985, but it hasn't aged as well as, say, the final chase in Road Warrior. Still, there are some great bits of dialogue in Thunderdome, and Mel Gibson has some priceless comedic reactions.
What really holds Thunderdome back is the momentum-killing detour at the film's midpoint; after the Ewok tribe enters the fray, this movie really stops trying.
