Review of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985) by Zane W — 16 Feb 2009
When a movie spawns references in Hook, Resident Evil: Extinction, and Muppet Treasure Island, you have to realize that maybe vision of the first two films is lost. Sure, the plot follows a very similar path, especially to the second film, but there are aspects that feel over the top or dull in their bizarre nature.
The grit, desperation, and ugly violence have been replaced with a set that is dusty and rusty, which poorly cover for a much more hollow, lighter tale. Taken on its own it is a rather light, enjoyable 80â??s movie, but as the third part in the series, it really suffers in comparison.
