Review of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985) by Michael S — 22 Jun 2015
Mad Max goes Hollywood. This third entry in the series had studio backing. Some of it is very impressive (the Thunderdome gladiator-style fighting arena, an extended car chase). But with its PG-13 rating it gets way to cutesy at times with cartoonish scenarios and a whole group of stranded kids.
That soft approach takes the gritty edge off the film. That edge is what made the first two film s enjoyable.
