Review of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985) by Eric M — 04 Sep 2015
The grossly underrated episode of the "Mad Max" saga, "Thunderdome" starts us down the road that leads to "Fury Road" with deepened world building that begins to examine how man attempts to recivilize himself in a post-apocalypse.
Yes, Tina Turner was a poor choice as a villain, but the film is daring in its construction, cinematography and action. Ending on a surprisingly hopeful note with more humor than previous installments, "Thunderdome" is flawed for certain, but it deepens the psychological weight of the series and lays the foundation for one of the most incredible action films of all time in "Fury Road.
