Review of Mad Max 2 (1981) by Sean W — 17 Jul 2014
Awesome follow-up to the ground-breaking original that really gives you the goods in the third act and prove how bad-ass of a character the "Road Warrior" really is! Mel Gibson can do so much with very little dialogue and his quiet demeanor help sell his performance as the mysterious rogue; seemingly always a hair away from trouble.
The story structure is very interesting in that the pov is from a little boy telling a tale, therefore it adds a unique twist where the events may have been completely exaggerated from reality. I don't personally believe this, but it gave me something to think about! The final twenty minutes is where it's at and the frenetic action is exhilarating and the now-famous car stunts are spectacular.
There's not much in way of plot, and some of the costumes and story elements are incredibly goofy today, but this film delivers the goods and there are some truly memorable moments!
