Review of Mad Max 2 (1981) by Zeke E — 04 Jan 2015
Proof that a sequel can be better than the original. Mad Max 2 (internationally titled, The Road Warrior), Was sold to audiences as a stand alone film & not as a sequel, because the original was poorly recieved by international audiences.
But with everything explained in the opening scene, this allows the audience to jump right into the action. This time round Max (Gibson), is caught up in a war between two tribes, one a friendly group the other consisting of vicious psychopaths led by the Humungus.
Max's character plays out as one that you'd be more likely to find in a western rather than a sci-fi. The film itself is better presented and written than the previous installment & is the best in the series.
The performances are greatly improved, the films success made Mel Gibson an international star. This film has also been citied as an insperation for film, TV, games & sports.
