Review of Mad Max 2 (1981) by Stephen S — 02 Aug 2010
While the first Mad Max showed a society on the brink of collapse, in The Road warrior we truly are in post-apocalypse meltdown. Honest cop Max is now just another desert rat desperate for petrol, and teams up with a gyrocopter pilot to help an oil-drilling community to escape a siege by bandits led by kinky clothed Humongous.
Far heavier on action and chase scenes than even the first film, this has very little in terms of story but is almost all the better for it, being an hour and a half of all out scrappy racers carnage, the bigger budget (although still rough and raw vibe, with some shaky editing in places) leading to more cars, more stunts and more explosions.
An action movie classic!
