Review of Mad Max 2 (1981) by Ross B — 13 Nov 2010
George Miller's sequel to his classic film Mad Max is a bigger budget version of the original film and uses every extra dollar to improve the movie. Mel Gibson (hey remember when Mel wasn't crazy and hated by everyone?) reprises his role as Max, a lone gunslinger out in the Australian desert who is reluctantly sucked into a war between a gang and a tribe of people.
To some extent this movie is an apocalyptic western, with the lone gunmen who rides into town and joins the farmers against the ranchers (a la Shane). The film has high stakes action and a twist that just proves this is an apocalyptic wasteland.
A worthwhile see and a fun movie to watch.
