Review of Mad Max 2 (1981) by Ian G — 03 Jun 2015
The first entry of the Mad Max series which embraces the world apocalypse having happened, in this case over the rights to the Oil of the world, and showing Mad Max traveling the roads having embraced his new identity as the Road Warrior as a way of dealing with his grief over the loss of his wife, his only companion being a stray dog that he has picked up along the way.
George Miller is back at his maestro best orchestrating the action sequences like no ones business especially for the early 80's when camera movies and budgets were very constrained. Also this seems to be the template that the franchise picked up using Mad Max as the lone wolf character that Gibson plays to perfection stumbling on a group of survivors in this case on an oil refinery that has survived and is being terrorized by another gang looking to monopolize the wealth inside.
A must watch for all action fans especially for ones who adore there car chase sequences.
