Review of Mad Max 2 (1981) by Josh T — 19 Oct 2015
Mad Max 2 was filled with car chases and explosions and more car chases and plenty of death. The simple story, Max working with a group of people who have an oil tanker, try to protect it from a gang of misfits.
The dialogue is minimal and Mel Gibson staring into the lens is something you will see a lot of. There were some fun side characters like a goofy guy who has a home-made helicopter and a little boy who acts like a wild animal.
The plentiful car chases were not horrible, but after the 5th one, it got a little old and all the vehicles and landscape looked the same so it was a little repetitive. The original at least had a solid story the featured Max out for revenge but this one just was so basic, it needed more.
I will give props to the film makers, as the massive road battle scenes were entertaining and took lots of hard work and great choreography. This film is simply action, and action only, so if you want that you should enjoy Mad Max 2.
