Review of Mad Max 2 (1981) by Wade W — 10 May 2016
This sequel does everything that a great sequel should! It is certainly the biggest inspiration for the events of 'Fury Road'. The story is ingeniously simple, the sense of scale and scope of this apocalyptic world is significantly improved, and the pacing is better from the first movie.
Unlike the original, this one has a great action/adventure vibe and a few colorful supporting characters for Max. Some of the film is a bit dated and the majority of the film seems to lack an abundance of all-out action, but there are a couple more elements that make this best of the classic Mad Max movies.
The non-stop music score by Brian Mays is surprisingly stirring and the climactic chase sequence at the end is tremendously exciting because the movie brilliantly built the story towards it and that set-piece makes this movie worth a watch!
